MATERIALITY

Glue-laminated timber is made by laminating layers of timber cut in the same grain and jointing and gluing them together, This gives glulam strength in one direction which makes it excellent for beams. With the large volumes and folding geometry of my building, I need strong, long-spanning beams so glu-lam is ideal. It is lighter in weight than steel or concrete and has a high fire resistance.
