Following on from her Foundation degree in Art & Design, Charlotte undertook Architecture after being captivated by the ‘Sensing Spaces’ exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in 2014 involving work by Alvaro Siza, Grafton Architects, Kengo Kuma and more.

Based in Manchester, she has a keen interest in re-development, restoration and interior architecture. With a view to being imaginative in her designs she enjoys working with people, and manipulating light and colour in interior environments to enable whatever is happening in the space to be the best experience possible. “Allowing for the visitor’s imagination is essential if a space is to become a satisfying physical experience.” During her spare time, she enjoys other creative outlets such as textiles, typography and performing music.

Charlotte is a member of Karakter practise, a spatial agency based in Manchester currently working on projects in Stretford working alongside the community. Find out more below or visit our website http://msakarakter.wixsite.com/karakter for more information.

Karakter is a spatial agency which identifies architecture as a dynamic and inclusive process. Our practise is derived from a simple analogy:

the site as a stage,

the community as a participating audience, and

Karakter as the actor with an ambition to unite the former.

Karakter is a multi-cultural practise with members from China, Malaysia, UK and Indonesia. Thus the usage of the Malaysian/Indonesian word karakter which is still pronounced as ‘character’ and defined as ‘actor’ to demonstrate our role. The logo is derived from Mandarin 角色.
